I have spent a whole day trying to make an installation disc from an image disc for windows 7 - and I have n ow got four copies of the image file from various image burn software makers and they are all the same as the original. I have tried image burn /iso maker/windows burn / and I am totally fed up. A whole day is wasted and I still have got nowhere. The instructions in these programmes vary so much and are so confusing- why can't they just burn me one bootable installation disc for which we have paid good money? I have wasted all my dvd writable discs- and I have no idea what to do next. Can anyone provide simple straight forward instructions that actually appear in the programme. I have plugged in an external writer to my laptop which has an internal writer.
I tried the disc with image on both way round in case one dvd writer did not like being a reader- that confuses even more because I am not sure any longer which is source and destination- twice have I written blank dvds at great length of time because I must have got the source wrong in imgburn. I am at the stage where I would throw the whole lot out the window and never see another computer as long as I live! As to the installation of windows- god knows if I will ever do that. Please please help and don't suggest the above which fails to work. Please please help and don't suggest the above which fails to work hourswasted It is a very straight forward process to burn the.ISO file to a DVD. The.ISO file is an image of the original DVD and it must be written to the DVD so that the result is an exact copy of the original DVD. DVD from ISO - If you downloaded the ISO file use a burning program to make a DVD. You can also use the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool allows you to create a copy of your Windows 7 ISO file on a DVD or USB flash drive. Not being able to see exactly what you are doing it is impossible to tell what you are doing wrong. Read the information at the 2 links above and see if that helps.

I have downloaded Windows server 2012 a number of times, burnt the ISO images with couple of programs yet I can't get any of them bootable. I am totally lost and have no idea which way to go again.
Just to join the club, I've been trying to get a bootable DVD of Windows Home Server all to no avail. I've used the Windows 7 and 3 other ISO burning programs and all they do is produce a disc with all of the ISO files but boot they do not. The bought version of Power Iso may do it but the trial one doesn't go over 300mb so I'm not going to buy if I will only get another coffee coaster:-) The free version asks for a boot information source but that is not included with the MS download. What.ISO file did you download from Microsoft that did not have a.EXE file? I have downloaded countless.ISO files from Microsoft in the past 20 years and they all had.EXE files.
The operating system images all booted and installed. The miscellaneous updates and applications all had.EXE files to affect the desired operation.
